Elevate the everyday with a linen table runner from Solino Home. Whether you're looking to set a table for a weeknight dinner, special occasion, or holiday; like anything well-dressed, a table runner is one of a tablescape’s best accessories.
HOW TO MEASURE FOR A TABLE RUNNER AND DROP
You'll need to know the dimensions of your table before you can choose a table runner size or how long you would like it to "drop" at each end. Keep in mind there are no hard rules when it comes to setting the table. Create a tablesetting that fits your own personal style or taste and have fun with it.
For a traditional setting, special occasion, holiday or formal event, a table runner should span the length of your table and hang at least 6-inch, 8-inch, or 12-inches over each end of the table. The drop should hang shorter than your tablecloth. For example, if your table is 60-inches long, your table runner should measure 72-inches long, allowing for a 6-inch drop at each end of your table.
As for the width of your table runner, it should be approximately one-third the width of your tabletop. For example, if you have a 42-inch wide rectangular or square table, your table runner should measure 14-inches wide. If you prefer a wide table runner, we do offer 16-inch and 18-inch-wide table runners.
Once you've determined the size table runner you'll need, select a fun color or pattern that fits your gathering, theme, or occasion. Our 100% pure linen, cotton linen blends and 100% cotton table runners are available in a wide variety of standard and specialty lengths, ranging from 36-inches to 144-inches, and standard widths from 14-inches to 18-inches.
TABLE RUNNER DROP
We recommend a 6-inch to 12-inch drop, depending on the occasion. A shorter drop is typically used for everyday or casual entertaining, while longer drops are for more formal occasions.
TO MEASURE
Use your table length + desired overhang or drop length × 2.
Example: For a 60" table, add 12" total (6" drop at each end) = 72".
WHAT TO BUY
You will need a 72" runner for a 60" table.
This will give you a 6" drop at each end of your table and a lovely setting.
TABLE RUNNERS FOR ROUND TABLES
Yes, you can use a table runner on a round table! We suggest layering a table runner over a tablecloth on a round table and using a single runner down the center of the table. Another option is to create an X, layering two table runners over each other and crossing in the center of the table. Choose a runner that is 12-inches longer than the diameter of your table to create a 6-inch drop.
STYLE IT
We love the way a table runner adds drama to a table and makes a table setting more interesting. That's where our coordinating tablecloths, placemats, and napkins come in and we've got a solid color, pattern or print to work with every table runner in our collections.
Begin dressing your table in layers. Lay down a tablecloth, add your table runner and style it with flowers, candles, and table décor to create a focal point.
Once your table runner is set, work your way out from the runner to setting dinnerware, flatware, glassware. And, if you love layering table linens as much as we do, include coordinating placemats and a contrasting napkin color with a fun and interesting fold, for a mix n' match vibe.
