What better way to honor all the moms (and second moms) in your life than with a Mother’s Day brunch. Set the day off in a delicious way with a special meal prepared just for them. Here, we’ve gathered some of our best tips for achieving the perfect Mother’s Day brunch.
Prep the Table: Brunch is often a more casual affair but that doesn’t mean the table shouldn’t be dressed to the nines. We love layering linens to create an eye-catching scene. Take inspiration from the photos pairing our lilac Classic Hemstitch and sage Narrow Stripe collections, for example. Double up solid color napkins with a subtle stripe, dress them with your favorite napkin rings and tuck in a small cluster of flowers for a special touch.
The Menu: Whether she prefers sweet or savory (or both!) nothing says, “I love you, Mom!” like some of her favorite eats. The key to this day is enjoying one another’s company so think about dishes that can be prepped ahead of time. Some of our favorite savory ideas include: quiche, frittata packed with veggies or a bake-ahead french toast casserole. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, try your hand at something more exotic like Shakshuka (a Middle-Eastern dish made of tomato, onion, spices and poached eggs). For the sweeter side, we love crepes filled with Nutella or fruit preserves, scones with clotted cream, chocolate-filled croissants or even mini donuts—with brunch, there are no rules!
If your guests would appreciate a few healthy options, a greek yogurt bar stocked with fresh berries, homemade granola and shredded coconut is always a hit, while sides of a crisp garden salad and roasted veggies are always appreciated.
Sensational Sips: What would brunch be without coffee, tea and mimosas! Freshly brewed, hot coffee is a must, but plan accordingly. If you have several guests, think about brewing a big batch and keeping it warm in a thermal insulated carafe or, if just a few guests are coffee drinkers, your single-serve coffee maker should do the trick. Stock up on basic and delicious add-ins like everyone’s preferred milk, sweeteners and flavored creamers. For the tea folks, a nice selection of herbal teas is always a nice touch.
Mimosas are a must for toasting all the women gathered around your table. Stock up on bottles of champagne or prosecco and assorted juices. Orange juice is a classic but think about trying peach nectar and pineapple juice too. Of course, some of your guests might prefer to sip their champagne or prosecco on its own. To add a little something extra, have fresh raspberries and mint on hand and your favorite champagne flutes!
